PRESENTED BY THE 10.15 PROJECT
Meet Heidi and Mike Greenwood
Some miles are bigger than running.
The 10.15 Project is a statewide relay run across North Dakota that honors pregnancy and infant loss. Over four days, a team of runners covers more than 400 miles across North Dakota, carrying stories of love, loss, and resilience from community to community. Each runner represents more than physical endurance. They carry remembrance, awareness, and hope, helping transform miles into meaningful connection.
Today, we are excited to introduce to you, Heidi and Mike Greenwood! Together, they are running to honor their daughters, Jules and Leni, and to stand alongside other families who have experienced the unimaginable loss of a child.
Heidi grew up in Roseau, MN and attended the University of North Dakota, where she played college volleyball and ran track. She was the 2008 DII National Champion in the 1500m and went on to compete in the 2016 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. She currently lives in West Fargo and owns her own personal training business. She enjoys all things wellness, sourdough bread and organizing.
Heidi lost her first two baby girls, Jules at 22 weeks and Leni at 28 weeks. She and her husband now have two living daughters, Quincy Jules and Jude Leni.
βI am participating in this event to help spread awareness and provide support for those enduring such losses. I want to create a safe space for families to grieve, to say their child(ren)βs name, and to help them feel joy again.β
Dr. Michael Greenwood, MD grew up in Jamestown and attended the University of North Dakota, where he played football before continuing on to medical school. He is now an ophthalmologist at Vance Thompson Vision in West Fargo, specializing in cataract, refractive, cornea and glaucoma care. He is also a co-founder of GreenMan Vision, a VR-based company focused on improving how patients understand their vision through immersive technology.
Michael and Heidi enjoy spending time with their young daughters, Quincy and Jude. The loss of their daughters, Jules and Leni, has deeply impacted their family and continues to guide them through life.
Michael is also a founder of The 10.15 Project. For him, this run is deeply personal. Each mile is a way to honor Jules and Leni, carry their names forward and stand alongside other families who know what it means to navigate loss.
He serves this mission in honor of Jules and Leni, hoping to bring light and support to families facing some of their darkest days.

What if Exercise Was a Daily Habit?
By: Lindsay Paulson
I know itβs not official yet but it feels like fall, with September and back to school, plus Dick Beardsley half marathon in less than 2 weeks!
This time of year is also popular for fitness routines. Whether just starting out or reigniting one, many people look to experts for how much exercise is recommended. A common guideline: βX minutes per week.β
I donβt like this guidance. It misses an important concept: The goal of exercise should be to build a consistent, small, daily - not weekly - habit. Could you cram it all into a day or two and still meet the guidelines? Yes, pretty easily. Is that whatβs best for the body and mind, for stress and sleep? Iβm not an expert but it feels like an easy no.
Run or weights, cycling or yoga, or a mix of it all - however you like to sweat, even if itβs just 15 or 20 minutes, make it the goal to move every day!

RUNNERβS POLL
What's your running pet peeve?
Last time, we asked:
What your biggest running challenge is right now, and apparently, weβre all trying to keep the wheels on. π
π©Ή Avoiding injuries β 38%
π₯ Staying motivated β 29%
π
Training consistently β 21%
β° Finding time β 13%
The takeaway? Itβs not always about running faster or farther. Sometimes the biggest win is simply staying healthy, showing up, and keeping the streak alive.
Whatever challenge youβre facing right now, youβre definitely not the only one. Weβre all figuring it out together. πββοΈπββοΈπͺ
Thatβs it for this week.
Stay tuned for an opportunity to support kids in our local community through the Mark Knutson Shoes for Kids event!
Keep on keepinβ on, folks!
