PRESENTED BY MARK KNUTSON SHOES FOR KIDS LEGACY FUND
Shoes for Kids 100 Miler
Help put shoes on kids' feet: MK Shoes for Kids
Each year, elementary students across the Fargo/Moorhead/West Fargo area head back to school without shoes they can actually run in. The Mark Knutson Shoes for Kids Legacy Fund changes that, one pair at a time.
And we can change that with miles!
Started in 2010 by Mark Knutson and Fargo Marathon, Inc., and carried on in his memory since 2023, the fund has delivered more than 20,000 pairs of shoes, including over 11,000 since partnering with SCHEELS in 2020.
On October 1st and 2nd, James, I and a very small crew will travel to each school throughout the metro, Me (Jeremy) on foot, and James and the crew in our SAG Wagon. We will cover the 100 miles over the course of 36-40 hours AND hope that you will follow along on our journey!
More info to come, so please stay tuned!

5 things to unlearn
By: Lindsay Paulson
Whether you’re a teenager starting high school or an adult with decades of life experience, we all have one thing in common: we should never stop learning.
With back to school, this time of year feels natural to talk about learning and it inspired my latest blog - but, it’s not exactly about learning. Rather, it’s about unlearning; teaching ourselves to quash the bad advice we’ve collected over the years.
Read the full post on Wellness In Real Life for more on 5 things to unlearn right now, including:
1. Strive to be skinny
2. Never take a rest day
3. Losing weight will make me faster
4. Go all-in on 1 thing
5. What works for that person will work for me
Just like gutting out those last miles of a tough run, never give up on learning!

RUNNER’S POLL
First cold morning, what goes on first?
Last time, we asked:
What is your running pet peeve?
🌬️ Headwinds — (38%)
🚦 Red lights — (26%)
🐶 Loose dogs — (21%)
🚷 Sidewalk crowds — (15%)
38% of you voted and headwinds cruised to the win, which is the only cruising anybody does in a headwind.
Here's the thing. Every other item on this list eventually resolves itself. The light turns green. The dog's owner finally yells something. The four-abreast walking group reaches their destination. The wind does not resolve. The wind is a subscription.
And before anyone replies "but on an out-and-back you get a tailwind for half of it"… friend, this is North Dakota. The wind turns around when you do. It has nothing else going on.
That’s it for this week.
Thanks for being here!
Jeremy & James
